Description

Bent of the river is 700 acre nature center part of the National Audubon Society. It is located in Southbury, CT. Bent of the River is open to the public, but there is a fee if you are not a member.

From the parking lot, there is a path that leads under a small structure. The small welcoming booth contains information about upcoming events and maps of the trails that are part of the center.

There are several hiking trails at the center. Unfortunately none of the trails are blazed. The trail named Cascades leads to a seasonal waterfall.

A few tenths of a mile from the parking lot there is a historic red barn. On the back side of the red barn, there is an overlook from which you can view various kinds of birds.
