== Description
==

The blue trail on the Shade Swamp Sanctuary in Farmington, CT is an easy stroll through a marsh area. In the summer time the insects can be annoying but there can be some good bird watching.

There is a structure at the parking area for the blue trail which was built in 1934 by the Civilian Conservation Corps. Its worth while to stop by to appreciate a structure built during the Great Depression era.

Just beyond the parking lot down the trail there are several cages left from an old small zoo. The State operated a breeding operation and maintained the small zoo year round. While most of the animals kept were birds, the smaller size of the cages is a little shocking.
