The Barnes Nature Center has a trail head for the Blue Blaze black dot trail which is part of the Tunxis trail system that is maintained by the CFPA. The section of the trail beyond the white-black trail to route 69 is in poor condition as of 07/2010. This section of the trail follows a stream and as such has very heavy vegetation and can be muddy in areas. It is not recommended that this section of the trail be used until some future work can be performed.
This trail branches off the Blue-Black dot Tunxis trail. At the point of the junction with the Tunxis trail there is a wooden bridge which has "To Pigeon Hill" written on it. This trail intersects with the Yellow-Black dot trails. There is a sign on a tree not to far along the trail from the east designating this trail as Carlos' Way.
